Holy Trinity Parish Religious Education Requirements for Students Attending Catholic Schools

Members of Holy Trinity Parish who attend Catholic Schools are always welcome in the Parish Religious Education Program. Attendance in the parish program is not required of these students except during sacramental years, at which time enrollment and participation in classes are required.

During these sacramental years, students must enroll in the parish Religious Education Program during Registration in August. Details regarding the time and place of Registration are published in the parish bulletin during August. A calendar of classes and meetings is provided at Registration.

The sacramental years are:
Grade 2: First Penance and First Holy Eucharist
Grade 9: Confirmation

Diocesan guidelines state that sacramental preparation programs must be seen within the context of the entire life of the parish. Sacramental celebrations are special encounters with Christ and the community. Therefore, the place for the celebration of the sacrament is in the parish community to which the Candidate belongs.

“Sacraments are parish celebrations and while Catholic school communities are important in the daily sharing of faith and values, it is also necessary for young people to stay connected to their parish communities through the celebration of weekly Eucharist and other parish activities. It is expected that Catholic school students will participate in the parish sacramental program for the immediate preparation of the sacrament.”
